Jeanne DowningA member of the Society of Decorative Painters, she is a Certified Decorative Artist (CDA), and has taught at a number of the Society of Decorative Painters national conventions. She has authored six books, and her designs and instructional articles have been published in several leading decorative art magazines.

Many of her paintings are now in private collections here and abroad. Her interests range from still life to floral, with stroke roses being a particular favorite. Challenged to display and use the ordinary in a unique way, Jeanne creates functional pieces with personality and an elegant manner.

A hint of romance can be found in each design. Jeanne has three children, two daughters and a son, and six grandchildren. She resides in Loveland, Colorado, with her husband, where she delights in decorating, gardening, reading and web design

About Rosecote

Rosecote, the name given to the home of Jeanne Downing, was selected for the defining statement it makes about the small cottage. Roses being a favorite painting subject, the house is accented with roses of all description, hue, and style.

Roses can be seen in floral arrangements, woven tapestry, tatted lace, painted wood, and printed fabric. The grounds, though humble, repeat the theme of roses with numerous rosebushes, which are joined by a myriad of other perennials, including delphiniums, lupine, spirea, ivy, assorted herbs, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and baby’s breath. The vine covered arbor and the sound of water fountains enhance the peaceful setting and afford a romantic atmosphere to the surroundings.

Rosecote becomes not only the name of a home, but a style and a way of living. Welcome to this special corner of Rosecote. Take a sip of tea and browse to your heart’s content.
